    I have a question for you! In your previous videos you mentioned that one should make dairy choices according to their personal body chemistry with the products but still mentioned that it is better to drink fatty WHOLE milk rather than reduced fat versions in order to get the full nutrient capacity. So why does my college nutrition book suggest the opposite??? It details the healthiest choice is to choose fat-free/reduced fat versions.
    If I could be so bold as to answer for her. Whole milk will contain more vitamins and nutrients vs skim milk. But for health reasons, milk and milk products like cheese should be avoided. Search some nutritionfacts videos about milk to see why. Calcium is probably why you consume it, you might want to ask where the cow gets it? Plants.. Humans can get all the nutrition it needs from whole plant foods. Protein, Calcium, Omega 3's, etc are all present in the plant kingdom in the right balance.
    Thanks for your boldness Philip! Great comment and excellent point about where the cow gets calcium in the first place! Spinach and kale carry a lot of calcium and even protein for example. Regarding why so many cultures consume milk, many have struggled for food and didn't have as many options as we have today, so often it may have been out of necessity. And taste. But factory farmed milk is horrific, I avoid it as best I can. Depressed, sick cows making hormone filled milk, so sad :(.
    This is a very controversial topic as the mainstream nutritionists (Dietitians, the Food Pyramid, etc.) pushes non-fat products and Clinical Nutritionist recognize the importance of healthy fats and balanced Omega 3 and 6 levels. One reason that dairy products were so heavily emphasized by the Food Pyramid is funding from the dairy industry. It's hard to say why they push the non-fat products so hard, maybe because fat-free processed foods will keep people hungry and over-eating, who knows.

    Thank you for the information, your videos are the best! I have a sort of mischievous question that you can obviously choose not to reply to, but I am curious. Is there ever a time -no matter how rarely- that you ever indulge in junk foods? Like cake at a birthday party, or a piece of pie at Thanksgiving? I follow a pretty rigid diet of whole foods, fruits, veg, whole grains and less than 5 ingredient foods, but I do tend to enjoy myself a few times a year on special occasions.
    I will happily admit that I splurge on birthday cake, pizza and even burgers sometime. Health is about what we do most of the time, not once in a while. Not on a regular basis and when I do splurge I try to do something as high quality as I can, so I honestly never eat fast food type junk, but honestly I don't even feel tempted.     Why would you want to eat like a 280 lb. pro BB anyway unless you are one. I've been studying diet & nutrition for 20 years, & I can tell you its a journey, not a destination. Once you acquire a basic understanding of nutrition, you won't have to question everything you eat. Once you've built that foundation, then just keep apprised of what's current every now & then.

    Saturated fat was demonized several years ago, and while huge amts of SatFat would be bad, we do need SOME healthy fats they help our brains and help us feel full/satisfied. Esp. in dairy, we need the fats to help us digest the dairy. Meat in moderation can be healthy if it isn't processed or loaded with chemicals. Hope that helps?
